Our Nautical Wedding

This past September Bob and I got married. Yes, we had a nautical wedding. Are you surprised? Hopefully you are not! Lisa was the maid of honor she did a fabulous job! For example at my bachelorette party I had wedding board shorts. I don’t think there is anything cooler than that. There were white of course, short and there were almost like a doily. Super cute and girly. I don’t think I will wear them racing any boats but they are great for looking sheek near the water.

Back to the wedding details…. We got married at the Mission of St. Rose Church in Sodus Point, NY. It was a rainy, yucky, very windy day but it subsided and we has some spectacular photos with the ever-changing sky all day long. We were yacht club tent sheek if you will. We had 2 large tents outside the club. Guests enjoyed cocktail hour at the bar in the club and at a bar in the tent. We made table cards that matched the theme of the wedding. We made a location on the bay in a water-color. For example… some guests sat at SBYC, others at Crescent Beach, and some at the lighthouse. You get the idea.

After the ceremony we went to one of our Sodus Point favorites the Coop Deck and the old lighthouse to get some great photos. The groom and groomsmen were in Tuxes and bridesmaids in Peacock long dresses. Everyone looked very sharp and our attire was a great contrast to the gray-blue sky we have for most of the day. The bridesmaids all wore a little anchor necklace that I gave them at the rehearsal dinner. They were a great find. Lisa helped me pick them out. We got them at the Platinum House in Newport, Rhode Island.

Our band was great and comes highly recommended. Ben Torres! Look him up.

And we cannot thank our photographer enough. Jay Palmer and his wife Karen were great, they own a photo studio near the village of Webster. A picture says a thousand words. Enjoy these photos from our big day.

Cheers! – Sarah

Cottage Season is Upon Us!!

Yesterday, marked the first official cottage day of the summer. Ok it’s still spring but I have the itch for summer fun like no other. It was a bit chilly but sunny sunny sunny yesterday on the Bay. The Fighting Yellow Lady (Crewless) is  on the water and ready for the adventures of Summer 2012. The “Shack” has a new red roof which looks glorious. We has a nice little bay tour and dinner at Skippers Landing. The prime rib is a must order. Our friends drove their gorgeous brand new boat and joined us.

I also determined that I will be spending as much of my free time as possible in sodus. The dreaded monday after Sunday Funday in Sodus can have quite the bite- especially when it was the first trip out to the Bay Street. Deenie Martini was in full effect serving us last night. It was fun, and I will make it through the day. If you’re gonna play you’re gonna pay? Or so the saying goes…

Turns out we love Sodus so much we are getting married there this fall. SO EXCITED! Going tonight to have my measurements taken for my dress. The container gardening and landscape will have to be in FULL EFFECT this summer so look out Sodus Bay Garden Club we will be giving you a run for your money this year. Enjoy the photos! -SC

Irene hits the Point.

I remember talking with Lisa who had been evacuated from their Beach House on Matunuck Beach before taking these photos. The hurricane somewhat fizzled by the time it reached Sodus. However, riding my beach cruiser to the beach proved to be a challenge. As ‘ Waterfront Enthusiasts’ I think we are often excited any time we are presented with weather conditions that show nautre’s true strength. On this day their were record breaking 9′ waves recorded off the shore of Sodus Bay on Lake Ontario. Enjoy the photos. -Sarah
