A nautical dog for a nautical girl.

Havanese¬†–

a swimming dog fit for a queen. This breed was once owned by Queen Victoria. Meet Tillie (Tiller), she will be joining our familybefore Christmas. I wanted a nautical dog name – Tiller seemed to be perfect. We will call her Tillie for short. My sister has a friend with a dog named Tiller. Once I heard the story of how the dog spins in a circle when she hears “What do you do when you hit the mark”, I was sold. For those of you that don’t know in sailing when you hit a mark of the course as a penalty you are required to complete a 360. More on Tillie and the breed later. Here are some photos. Our breeder (Hair pups) is unbelievable and she sends photos once a week as she grows! These photos are from week one and week three! She is still quite little!

Our Nautical Wedding

This past September Bob and I got married. Yes, we had a nautical wedding. Are you surprised? Hopefully you are not! Lisa was the maid of honor she did a fabulous job! For example at my bachelorette party I had wedding board shorts. I don’t think there is anything cooler than that. There were white of course, short and there were almost like a doily. Super cute and girly. I don’t think I will wear them racing any boats but they are great for looking sheek near the water.

Back to the wedding details…. We got married at the Mission of St. Rose Church in Sodus Point, NY. It was a rainy, yucky, very windy day but it subsided and we has some spectacular photos with the ever-changing sky all day long. We were yacht club tent sheek if you will. We had 2 large tents outside the club. Guests enjoyed cocktail hour at the bar in the club and at a bar in the tent. We made table cards that matched the theme of the wedding. We made a location on the bay in a water-color. For example… some guests sat at SBYC, others at Crescent Beach, and some at the lighthouse. You get the idea.

After the ceremony we went to one of our Sodus Point favorites the Coop Deck and the old lighthouse to get some great photos. The groom and groomsmen were in Tuxes and bridesmaids in Peacock long dresses. Everyone looked very sharp and our attire was a great contrast to the gray-blue sky we have for most of the day. The bridesmaids all wore a little anchor necklace that I gave them at the rehearsal dinner. They were a great find. Lisa helped me pick them out. We got them at the Platinum House in Newport, Rhode Island.

Our band was great and comes highly recommended. Ben Torres! Look him up.

And we cannot thank our photographer enough. Jay Palmer and his wife Karen were great, they own a photo studio near the village of Webster. A picture says a thousand words. Enjoy these photos from our big day.

Cheers! – Sarah
